By 2020 it’s conservatively estimated that at least 2.7 million drones will be operating in U.S. airspace for commercial purposes. The potential commercial uses for drones cuts across almost all industry sectors – from agriculture, engineering and construction to media, security and manufacturing. With the new drone frontier comes evolving regulations and new insurance risks. This talk will provide an overview of the regulatory environment, how the insurance marketplace is responding and ways for businesses to minimize the potential impact of drone risks. Presented by Alexander Hardiman, a Pillsbury partner, has successfully litigated, arbitrated and settled hundreds of complex insurance coverage claims. Alex represents and advises corporate and individual policyholders in insurance coverage matters, including commercial general liability claims, direct and officers’ insurance, fiduciary liability insurance, errors and omissions insurance, and property insurance issues. He has extensive experience helping clients secure policy coverage for defense of class actions and product contamination and environmental hazard cases, as well as for governmental actions including antitrust claims and SEC investigations.
